Nutrition/Lifestyle Education
Many health and weight issues can be avoided or resolved by implementing healthier eating and lifestyle habits. The teen nutrition program includes:
-
Evaluation of food choices and lifestyle habits contributing to poor health/weight
-
Education on a variety of topics tailored to individual needs
-
An individualized success plan
-
Take-home informative hand-outs
- Current media messages about body image and weight can present unhealthy and unrealistic ideas of what is considered attractive and healthy. There are conflicting pressures that promote poor self-image and eating related problems today in our teens. In addition to nutrition and lifestyle education, teens can learn:
-
To develop perspectives on today's unrealistic body attitudes
-
To understand that undue emphasis on appearance is a formula for unhappiness, stress and poor health
-
To respect and appreciate the genetic influence of body shapes and sizes
